Introduction


The average life expectancy of Hong Kong people has reached over 80 years, ranking among the top in the world. Alone with this, diseases related to aging and physical degeneration; such as stroke, cardiovascular diseases, and joint degeneration, are becoming increasingly common. According to the research by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), many health problems related to degeneration are closely associated with sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercise.


Tung Wah Group of Hospitals SMART (Special Multi-functional and Advanced Rehabilitation Training) Centre has been in operation since 2014, aiming to provide state-of-the-art fitness equipment, accompanied by the assessment and personalized guidance of physiotherapist, provides ongoing support to community members, with a particular focus on seniors and those in need of rehabilitation. Through our "Exercise is Medicine" philosophy, we aim to combat the effects of aging and promote a culture of regular physical activity.



In October 2019, we gratefully received invaluable contributions from Mr. Ho Yau Kai Orlando and his family. Tthe center has been renamed the "Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Chan Un Chan SMART Centre" to serves as a testament to their noble deeds and the enduring legacy of their support. The donations have been instrumental in enhancing the Centre's environment and facilities.

Characteristics of the centre

  • The first center in Hong Kong fully introduce professional fitness and rehabilitation equipment (HUR) from Finland

  • HUR professional fitness and rehabilitation equipment Utilizes an exclusive air pressure regulation system that effectively reduce muscle soreness and joint strain after exercise, minimizing the risk of sports injuries.
    Equipment with professional scientific instruments to assess muscle strength and balance, helping enhance exercise potential.

  • Personal assessments, exercise instruction, and progress monitoring the conducted by physiotherapists and fitness coaches.

  • The Centre provides a spacious, pleasant and comfortable environment and operates on a membership basis

Suitable for middle-aged and those in need of rehabilitation

You can become a member as long as you are 15 years old or above, especially for the following persons:

  • middle-aged who lack of regular exercise
  • individuals experiencing a decline in physical function, such as muscle strength, balance and those who require exercise and health maintenance
  • individuals with chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes or stroke, Parkinson's disease or those in need of rehabilitation.
